We drove up the Glenn Highway on Sunday. This is the same highway that we took in late September when I posted pictures of the gorgeous fall colors and of our hike on the glacier. We drove to some of the same places to see what the scenery looked like in the winter. The beauty and the magnitude of things is almost overwhelming. We stopped in a turnout to take some pictures. I couldn't decide which direction to face first, so I just took a 360* movie so you can see what we saw. (I took the sound out because there was a lot of traffic noise when cars went by). There was quite a bit of traffic, as there were a lot of people trying to get in a few more winter activities. The snow is all gone in our valley, so people have to drive further up into the mountains to find the snow for snow machining, cross country skiing and snowshoeing.
At about the halfway point in the video, you can see a pass that looks kind of foggy. That is the wind blowing the snow in that pass. We could see the wind blowing in several of the passes as we ate lunch overlooking the glacier.
These are pictures of the awesome scenery we encountered. I will let the pictures speak for themselves!
