This team was READY TO GO! (especially the one dog.) He jumped for 20 minutes before it was his team's turn to head to the start line.
The winner of the Jr. Iditarod gets the #1 musher position at the ceremonial start of the Iditarod in Anchorage.
Lance Mackey was the winner of the 2007 Iditarod.
Sled dogs just run until the musher tells them to make a change. This musher did not tell his team to "gee" (turn right), so they continued straight ahead.
This musher knew the turn was coming and told his team to "gee". Notice, though, that he is hanging on VERY tightly to his sled and his passenger as they round the corner.
